Word Analyser: A Tool for Estonian Language Learning and Text Analysis

Lexical and grammatical analysis tools help to find patterns in textual data that may be relevant not only for linguistics but also, e.g., literary, cultural and media studies research. We introduce some tools developed for the Estonian Language Learning, Teaching & Research Environment ELLE, which is based on the Estonian Interlanguage Corpus. The workshop will mainly focus on the Word Analyser tool that combines automated syllabification, lemmatization, and morphological analysis of a given word or text. For example, it can be used to determine the topics and attitudes, or an author’s literary style based on syllable and grammatical form frequencies.
