Creating Data-Driven Animations in R
A picture is worth a thousand words. A good picture or text can allow you to visualize something in your head, but animation can give a quicker overview.
In this workshop, we explore techniques where altering a single parameter value changes drawings. While the Shiny package allows for manual changes, relatively independent gif-images will be created using an animation package, and more automatic transitions with gganimate.
Together we will experiment with linguistic and runic song data and offer exercises for guided practicing. The participants’ own data and ideas are also welcome for creating animations at the end of the workshop.
